•November 18, 2009 • 1 CommentToday I had the pleasure of helping Troop 6914 learn the basics of photography to earn their photography badge. We ran all over the property at the studio taking pictures. I figured the basics would take a couple years to learn, so I focused on “What Makes an Image Interesting.” So on the syllabus was: angles, composition, perspective, natural expressions, ambient lighting, shutter speed, negative space, leading lines, patterns, shapes, repetition, using lens flare, depth of field, post production, close-ups, details, time of day, lenses, silhouettes, shadows, subject matter, shooting from the hip, etc. Do you think I overloaded them a bit??!!! I ended it with telling them to mess up on purpose, get in trouble with lighting, say no to “Cheese,” and capture creatively. It’d be cool if some of them really picked up on the idea.

Middle of Nowhere to the Beach
•October 18, 2009 • 2 CommentsHeather and Zac are awesome. I really can’t wait for this wedding! They are getting hitched at Lake Oak Meadows ( http://www.lakeoakmeadows.com/) in 2010. We started the session out within the fields and abandoned structures near Campo and ended up at Windansea Beach south of La Jolla Cove. www.andykingphotography.com

Gettin’ The Boot
•August 21, 2009 • 1 CommentI had a really fun session with Jenn & Isaiah at the Mission Inn in Riverside…uh, before we were kicked out that is. Isaiah actually proposed to Jenn at the Inn. It’s one of my favorite locations to photograph. I’ve shot weddings there before and have had my way with the place, but it turns out that you can’t have your engagement session on the property unless you are getting married there. Good times. We continued the session at the Inn for a while and then moved onto other amazing structures nearby.

Perdy.
•July 8, 2009 • 1 CommentTexas was awesome. Eric & Rebecca’s wedding was held right next to the water and open sky at Lake Worth. I’ve been photographing Eric and his family for several years…it was great to see everyone! We started the day off early, photographing all of the groomsmen wakeboarding, with the party continuing late into the evening. Good times!
