I Like Flowers

Sally Preston (owner, designer: Esquisite Blooms), is an amazing talent…and she is on fire right now.  Brides and wedding coordinators are all talking about Exquisite Blooms! I met Sally at a wedding in 2008 and was very impressed with everything she created and have been in touch with her ever since. I’m always hearing positive things about her and all of her work. I photographed her wedding last season in Napa Valley, and I can attest that she is an amazing person to be around. I love Sally!!

Check out all of her beautiful work on her Web site and blog. Also, you can meet her in person at the Bridal Bazaar on January 31st! http://www.exquisiteblooms.com/

Joshua Tree With Jennifer & Bree!

•January 22, 2010 • 2 Comments

Deserted houses, planet’s largest thrift store, human-eating cacti, slipping from trees, inflated rocks, hitchhiking windy roads, burying a man alive, climbing salvation mountain, twentynine palms long island iced teas, and pulling car out from fish bones. Joshua Tree to the Salton Sea…two wedding dresses pretty trashed.  I had only been to Joshua Tree one other time over a decade ago for an assignment, but it a favorite of mine for its unique, eerie landscape. Here are some of the shots.

Best Wedding Photographer In San Diego 2009

Lots going on….!

Happy New Year, and Happy Wedding Year to all of the 2010 bride & grooms!!

It’s that time of year for you to trash your dress. I’ve already started trash-the-dress sessions all over San Diego – anything and everything from tall grass fields with horses to graffiti tagged underpasses. We are road-tripping to Joshua Tree to trash two dresses this weekend; leaving early tomorrow morning through Sunday. I’ll begin posting some of the shots in weeks to come. :)

It’s also time to book your contemporary boudoir sessions for your significant for Valentine’s Day. There is still time to have your session photographed and for calendars, nightstand portraits, private highlight montages, and prints to be created.

Also, look for a revamped Web site this month.

Have a great weekend!!

Happy NYE!

Girl Scout Troop 6914 Rules!

•November 18, 2009 • 1 Comment

Today I had the pleasure of helping Troop 6914 learn the basics of photography to earn their photography badge. We ran all over the property at the studio taking pictures. I figured the basics would take a couple years to learn, so I focused on “What Makes an Image Interesting.” So on the syllabus was: angles, composition, perspective, natural expressions, ambient lighting, shutter speed, negative space, leading lines, patterns, shapes, repetition, using lens flare, depth of field, post production, close-ups, details, time of day, lenses, silhouettes, shadows, subject matter, shooting from the hip, etc.   Do you think I overloaded them a bit??!!!  I ended it with telling them to mess up on purpose, get in trouble with lighting, say no to “Cheese,” and capture creatively.  It’d be cool if some of them really picked up on the idea.
