Napa Valley

I had such an amazing time in Napa at Sally & Jeremiah’s wedding!  Their wedding was at an indescribably picturesque residence in Calistoga. Calistoga is a quaint town on the northern end of the Napa Valley.  The downtown area has a unique charm about it: tree-lined streets, boutiques,  and several small bistros with live music…all surround by vineyards and world-famous wineries. The minute you leave the vineyards and head up the mountain to where the ceremony location was, it begins to look like Yosemite.      www.andykingphotography.com

Sally did all of the flower arrangements, she is an incredible florist. She is the owner of Exquisite Blooms in San Diego (www.exquisiteblooms.com)

It sounded like a good idea at the time…I thought it was the end for all of us. You could just see the headlines!

Amanda & Heath said their ”I Dos” in Del Mar’s Seagrove Park  followed by a lavish reception at the Del Mar Marriott.

Freeeeezing in Julian

Really fun session with Jennifer and Chris in Julian last week. The weather was nice down the hill, but once we headed into town it was about 40 degrees with amazingly intense winds that made it feel like 40 below. We would run out and do a sequence of shots and then run back to the warm car.

We had a great time in Mexico (02.07.09)…it felt like it went by so fast!  Isaac & Nicole had their ceremony and reception at Coral & Marina in Ensenada on a beautiful, drizzly day.  Their wedding had lots of character…a great vibe…and lots of Tecate! Here’s a peek:549710

New Studio

•February 26, 2009 • Leave a Comment

The studio is about 90% complete. If any of you want to come over and help paint, pick new samples, take out the trash…come on by. For those of you who haven’t heard, I’m moving immediately next door to the old location so that I can have a larger place to photograph some of the newer sessions that require more space. I really like it, but again, still a little work ahead. I’ll keep everyone posted on some sort of opening fiesta!!

Remedy

Caitlin (2007 wedding: Chante Claire Manor, San Diego)  tore it up Saturday with her band, Remedy.  It was really cool to watch her perform…she has a beautiful voice.  Her hubby, Christopher, was part of the Remedy crew working the sound board.  I’m not sure when they will be performing next, but you should check ‘em out!11

WPPI Convention

WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) stepped it up a bit this year. They chose the MGM, which was a great, start over Bally’s. Bally’s feels like you’re traveling back to the 80s. The entrance looks like you are entering Star Tours at Disneyland…I think I might be dating myself a little there.  They hosted a concert with the Blues Travelers the first night I was there. Hung out with OB Tim (Master Photographer Tim Haugh: Tim Haugh Photography, San Diego) and new friends including Arnica Spring from Wyoming (Check out her weddings  and portraits: www.arnicaspring.com) She has a great, natural style. She utilizes the open fields and mountains for backdrops for her portraiture.

The following night Pictage (An online image posting company) reserved the top floor of Studio 54 for an after party with a hosted bar. Nice!  Can’t remember much of that…

Oh yeah…and the trade show was exhausting as usual…lots of new and improved albums  to go through and Canon gear to play with.
